International MBA Rankings

The Economist has released its annual rankings of international MBA programs. Leading the way once again is Chicago’s Booth School of Business, followed by Dartmouth, UC Berkeley, Virginia, and the University of Navarra in Spain.

Compiling data through career placement, salary increase, and subjective measurements such as student satisfaction and classmate impression, the rankings found 16 American schools in the top 25. One of the great surprises was Hong Kong University at number 24; just another sign that the business world is quickly expanding across Asia.

But other schools did not fare so well. Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business, a program that has annually received high marks in Bloomberg Businessweek, is ranked 93. Many more ranking disputes follow between Businessweek and The Economist, most notably Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business which is ranked second in the world by the latter and twelfth domestically by the former.
